Eleven areas of focus, one evaluation. Because the conditions below share more systems than they have names.
Most people reading this have a folder. Blood work from two years ago, a specialist referral, maybe a diagnosis that named the symptom without ever explaining it. Everything came back normal. You did not.
Every condition here is evaluated the same way at our San Juan Capistrano office, whether you are coming from San Clemente or Laguna Hills, or joining by video from elsewhere in California. Many women start with perimenopause and hormone care, others with a Hashimoto’s and thyroid evaluation, and some after years of unanswered symptoms from tick-borne illness or mold exposure.

You have probably also been told one of three things: it is just stress, take an antidepressant. It is just aging, learn to live with it. Or it is all in your head, see a therapist. None of those is an answer. They are what you hear when the testing was not built to find what is actually wrong.
Standard labs measure diseases, not function. They are checking whether your engine is completely broken, not whether it is running at forty percent. A thyroid can test normal while being shut down by stress. Hormones can sit inside their ranges while being completely out of balance as a system.
So the list below is not a menu of specialties. It is eleven doors into the same evaluation.
Eleven Diagnoses, Eight Systems
Below is every condition on this page, plotted against the eight systems evaluated in every case. It is not an argument. It is what the evaluations actually look at.
The stress response is involved in all eleven. The immune system in ten. Hormones in nine. No condition here involves fewer than five of the eight. That overlap is the reason a diagnosis-by-diagnosis approach keeps running out of road.
How many of the eleven conditions on this page involve each system.
“In my 25 years of practice, I found three systems break down most often: thyroid, adrenals, and sex hormones. These three systems are interconnected. You cannot fix one without addressing the others.”Dr. Angela Goldstein, ND
Which is why the label you arrived with matters less than where your systems actually are. Two people with the same diagnosis rarely need the same plan, and one person’s four diagnoses are often one problem wearing four names.
So if the same eight systems are behind all eleven of these, the label you arrived with matters far less than what is driving it. See which three fail together →

Why the Usual Path Stalls
None of this is a failure of the doctors inside it. It is what the structure pays for.
“Care that seeks to prevent disease, promote health, and prolong and enhance quality of life is not considered to be medically necessary and therefore not payable.”Medicare coverage language, quoted by Dr. Goldstein
Your health insurance is built like your car insurance. It pays for the crash. It does not pay for the oil change. And if the only time you go in is after something breaks, the failures get bigger.
Time is the other constraint. In the most-cited study of how primary care visits are actually spent, the median visit ran 15.7 minutes and covered about six topics. After the main concern, each additional one received roughly 1.1 minutes. That is not enough to take a history, read a pattern across systems and build a plan, and no clinician working inside it thinks otherwise.
So the reasonable thing happens. The symptom gets a name, the name gets a prescription, and the question underneath, why this started, goes unasked. Which is also how people end up with four diagnoses that are really one problem.

Start wherever your symptoms sent you. Every one of these is evaluated across the same eight systems, which is why the door you come through matters less than what the evaluation finds behind it.
Each one opens onto what that condition involves, what is evaluated, and what a plan is built from.
Eleven Doors, One Evaluation
The Door You Come Through Is Not the Answer
Every condition on this page is evaluated across the same eight systems, and the part that decides your outcome is which of them gets treated first. That sequencing is what Dr. Goldstein walks through in the free Master Class: why standard labs measure disease rather than function, the three systems that fail together in almost every case, and why treating them one at a time has not held.

Most patients arrive here after several other providers.

“I’ve had fibromyalgia, pain and migraines every single day for over 10 years. This was my last option. I’d been to every gastroenterologist, rheumatologist, primary care doctor, even doctors in other countries. The pain in my body has gone away.”

“I came to Dr. Goldstein after suffering from an eye condition that western medicine could not identify or treat. I went to numerous ophthalmologists, was sent to UCI, and had an eye biopsy. Allergy testing, the works. No results after nearly two years. I went to Dr. Goldstein and very quickly she determined I had a deficiency in vitamin B12 and D. She treated me and within a week, my symptoms disappeared and I have been well for three months now. I am forever indebted to Dr. Goldstein and will recommend her to anyone with an undiagnosed or diagnosed problem for treatment and final remedy. I would give her more than five stars if I could. She was the light at the end of my tunnel.”

These are real patients sharing their own experiences, published with their permission. Individual results vary depending on your condition, your history and how long it has been present. Nothing here is a promise of a particular outcome, and this page is educational rather than medical advice.
Care starts with an unhurried hour and a full history, because the timeline is usually where the answer sits: when this started, what changed around it, what has been tried and what happened when it stopped. Then functional laboratory analysis, read as a pattern across systems rather than one marker at a time, including the results you already have.
What comes out is not a protocol. Protocols are designed for populations, not individuals. Your biochemistry, stress physiology, clearance capacity and nutritional needs make a system that only resembles itself, which is also why even natural medicine fails when it treats symptoms instead of systems. The plan is built from what your evaluation shows, sequenced so the order is right, and measured with repeat testing rather than by how a given week happened to feel.
Dr. Goldstein sees patients in San Juan Capistrano and across Orange County, and by secure telemedicine anywhere in California. Care here is complementary and coordinates with your existing providers rather than replacing them.
Standard panels are built to detect disease, not to describe function, and most test a handful of markers in isolation. A functional evaluation asks a different question: what is limiting function right now. That usually means additional markers, and a different reading of the results you already have.
Usually the opposite. Every condition on this page involves at least five of the same eight systems, and several of those diagnoses commonly turn out to be one problem presenting in more than one place. The evaluation is built to find out which.
Yes. The list represents the areas we work in most often, not a limit. Many patients arrive with symptoms that were never given a name at all.
No. Naturopathic care here is complementary and integrative, and we coordinate with your existing providers. Medication decisions stay with the prescribing physician.
That is common, and it is usually the same problem in a different costume. Most practitioners, even natural ones, treat symptoms rather than systems, using supplements instead of drugs. A protocol built for a population is still a protocol.
