The reason patients stop hearing “everything looks normal.”
Standard panels are designed to detect disease. Functional testing asks a different question: what is limiting function right now, and why.
That means more markers, tighter interpretation, and reading results as a pattern rather than one value at a time. It also means re-reading the labs you already have, which frequently contain useful information nobody explained to you.
Testing is selected by hypothesis. Panels are ordered because they will change the plan, not to be thorough for its own sake. You are informed in advance about laboratory costs.
Non-invasive imaging used to detect patterns of inflammation, circulatory irregularity and physiological stress.
Heart rate variability, autonomic nervous system balance and stress response patterns, used to guide protocols and monitor progress objectively.
Frequency-based assessment used to identify areas of imbalance and guide individualized support.

Both of these patients had been tested before. What changed was what was tested for: an infection in one case, a B12 and vitamin D deficiency in the other.

“Anxiety, fatigue, unable to eat well, sleeplessness. I’d have to nap at 1:30 in the afternoon when I got off work. When Dr. Goldstein tested me I was told I had an infection I was completely unaware of. I’m sleeping better, the anxiety is gone, and there’s no fatigue I’m aware of.”

Anxiety, fatigue & hidden infection
“I came to Dr. Goldstein after suffering from an eye condition that western medicine could not identify or treat. I went to numerous ophthalmologists, was sent to UCI, and had an eye biopsy. Allergy testing, the works. No results after nearly two years. I went to Dr. Goldstein and very quickly she determined I had a deficiency in vitamin B12 and D. She treated me and within a week, my symptoms disappeared and I have been well for three months now. I am forever indebted to Dr. Goldstein and will recommend her to anyone with an undiagnosed or diagnosed problem for treatment and final remedy. I would give her more than five stars if I could. She was the light at the end of my tunnel.”
